Philanthropy is translated from Greek as, friend of the people. Today it is simply known as, Love of Humanity. The Rochester Greek Festival as part of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, has always believed in giving back to the community. Along with sharing our rich culture with Rochester every year, we choose local charities that support the many women and children in need.
This year we have chosen a great charity to designate as our featured charity for 2019, in the House of Mercy, along with the additional charities shown below. Every year at the Festival during our Philanthropy Friday event, we present the chosen local charities with a check for our donations. We humbly ask that you join us and donate to these fine charities as well. Thank you for supporting us as we support the community!
featured charity 2019
The House of Mercy and our founder, Sister Grace Miller, are dedicated to serving and advocating for Rochester, NY’s homeless citizens. Food, shelter, clothing, advocacy — operating 24/7, the House of Mercy never closes its doors on people in need. We strive to be a beacon of hope for the poorest of the poor, and we never give up on the thousands of people we serve each month.
Visit the Charity Booth for brochures and to meet representatives from all the supported charities.
